BROMO, A PICTURESQUE MOUNTAIN

What does make Bromo special and very popular for domestic and international tourist? I think it is because its unique shape and the story about Tengger people, the ethnic who lives around this mountain. As a part of national park Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, this place is like a magnet. We can find picturesque mountain called Bromo from higher side. Its shape is round like normal mountains, but there is crater in the middle still with the ash. There are several mountains arounds and we can see Semeru standing tall behind Bromo.

Left Semeru, we were heading to Bromo. We waited quite long to find transportation to Bromo, because we needed special car which is able to pass the sea of the sands towards Bromo. Finally, we found a 4×4 car that brought us passing the slope, traversed the foot of Semeru to Bromo in the middle of the dark evening. No road here. We only passed the sea of the sands that were quite challenging. The cold wind and the ash accompanied us all along the way. We finally arrived the small village in the foot of Bromo around 8 pm. However warm nice dinner welcoming us in this cold village.

In the early morning, we took motorcycle to the mountain to see Bromo. Normally the tourist takes 4×4 cars to pass the sea of the sands, but we tried different thing by riding motorcycle. Though it was not so easy. I fell down from the motorcycle several times because there is no road. We had to pass only the very slippery and thick sands.

We then took the road to arrive to the view-point to see Bromo from up. We came back and hiked Bromo after that. Saw the sellers of the souvenirs who slept in the middle in their stuffs, enjoyed the scenery of the craters, saw the horses riding the visitors to the top of Bromo, or just enjoyed the busy tourism in Bromo with different kind of activities of its visitors. Bromo, you are amazingly beautiful.
